Imagenomix and Haga Bioscience announce collaboration to advance AI-enabled spatial biomarker discovery in oncology

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN and NEW YORK, USA – SEPTEMBER 29, 2026 — Haga Bioscience AB (HAGA.BIO) and Imagenomix Corp. today announced a transatlantic collaboration to explore new approaches to biomarker discovery and validation in precision oncology, combining AI-powered pathology with spatial molecular analysis.

The collaboration brings together complementary technologies and expertise. Imagenomix predicts clinically actionable mutations from routine H&E images in hours, without consuming additional tissue, while HAGA.BIO develops spatial molecular assays to detect and confirm specific mutations directly in FFPE tissue. Together, the companies aim to combine AI-based screening with targeted spatial mutation confirmation in tissue, expanding access to mutation testing.

Initial work will explore a screen-and-confirm workflow for clinically actionable oncology mutations such as KRAS, EGFR and AKT, while building a joint roadmap for future validation studies and broader scientific collaboration.

“Most cancer patients never receive molecular testing because it is too slow, too costly, or there is not enough tissue. Imagenomix detects actionable mutations directly from the H&E slide every patient already has. Pairing that with HAGA.BIO’s in situ confirmation in the same tissue gives us a path to bring precise mutation testing to far more patients, faster,” said Heather Gustafson, Sr. Director of Program Strategy at Imagenomix. “Imagenomix and HAGA.BIO bring highly complementary technologies to the same challenge. By working together, we have an exciting opportunity to connect AI-based mutation prediction with spatial molecular confirmation, and to explore new approaches for precision oncology,” said Hower Lee, CEO at Haga Bioscience.

The collaboration is supported by Vinnova, Sweden’s Innovation Agency, through its initiative to strengthen international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies. The project provides a foundation for a longer-term partnership between the two companies.
